Silk Fabric Range

Silk Weight

The weight of silk is calculated in mm (momme). The reference to the lowest number indicates  lowest weight and higher number heavier weight. I have selected popular weights in the description below .

Silk Satin 16mm: Plain Weave, a  luxurious, glossy surface, smooth handle often used for scarfs ,ready to wear and evening wear. Digital printing works well on Silk Satin, portraying colors magnificently.

Silk Chiffon 8mm: lightweight plain woven sheer fabric,  soft handle. Chiffon is often used for evening wear and lingerie.

Silk Georgette 8mm: lightweight sheer dull finished crepe fabric, named after 20th Century French Dressmaker Georgette de la Plante. Made from highly twisted yarns.

Crepe De Chine 16mm: Has a soft, graceful drape. A soft yet characteristic crepe finish, this fabric lends itself to a ready-to-wear collection.

Habutai Silk 10 mm: a soft  handle, light fabric, it has a lustrous sheen. It’s popular in silk painting and printing, and has been traditionally used in lining tailored suits.

Silk Twill 16mm: a characteristic diagonal rib pattern due to its weave construction. This weight is ideally used in Ladies Ready-to-wear,  Suiting, scarfs and ties. It is therefore often used in a single sided print.
